Position Summary:

The Weld Engineer will have responsibility for setup, documentation and efficiency improvements in manual/robotic welding, spot-welding, brazing and metal finish through the use of technology and improved methods.  This position has the responsibility for compliance with all customer weld specifications and programs.  The Weld Engineer is also responsible for teaching, training and continuous improvements in all areas related to welding.

Essential Responsibilities:

·         Issues written setup and process sheets documenting setting and welding parameters for manual, automated/robotic MIG & TIG welding operations; known as WPS sheets.

·         Monitor weld processes to ensure compliance to standards including FTT, structural integrity and aesthetics/appearance.

·         Recommend method revisions including process equipment, materials and tooling to improve production performances and provide cost reduction opportunities as well as a safe, and environmentally sound working environment.

·         Review and analyze customer part prints, specifications, and other documentation to develop production quotations covering the welding of the product(s).

·         Demonstrated ability to work with and manage outside integrators and vendors.  

 

Travel Responsibilities:

·         Occasional travel between plant facilities may be required

Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree at 4-5 years of related experience and training

·         Ability to read 2D and 3D drawings and customer specifications

·         Knowledge of welding fixtures, jigs, and tooling

·         Ability to determine most cost-effective method to weld parts

·         Strong computer skills

 

Desired Experience and Traits:

·         CWI Certification and/or Advanced Degree  

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Materials Science from a four-year college or university.
