Position Summary:

The Robotics Application Engineer is responsible for supporting distributors and customers based on their current applications and customizing the robotic systems accordingly to fit their manufacturing requirements. The Robotics and Application Engineer will need to understand the client’s business requirements and determine the proper automated system and computer program; along with preparing the custom specifications for the robotic installation and evaluating and programming the robot’s capabilities so suit the work environment. This role is also responsible for developing cost proposals, efficiency analysis, and providing quality control reports. The Robotics Application Engineer will also write market specifications to the engineering team based on new feature requests from distributors.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Train distributors how to install, calibrate, test, and train on the robotic system’s performance

• Listen to client needs, write custom design specifications back to development team in Netherlands

• Research and suggest new technical procedures, processes and applications

• Document all robotic application developments, maintenance adjustments, and technical changes

• Serve as the technical support for the robotic systems that distributors and customers have in rotation; providing frequent communication  

• Provide guidance and expertise to management and internal teams on technical systems and processes

Travel Responsibilities:

• Occasional travel within USA, Canada, and Mexico will be required (approximately 30%) along with travel to SafanDarley headquarters in the Netherlands

Success Criteria:

Your success will be measured based on:

• Successful implementation of custom robotic applications for customers and distributors

• Training of customers and distributors on installation, calibration, testing of system performance

• Ability to understand applications, listen to customers, and comprehend the ROI of applications

• Identifying developmental needs of internal team members and helping them to improve knowledge and skills on SafanDarley robotic systems 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – specializing in mechanical, industrial, or electrical.

• Experience with robotics; and ideally with press brake or similar machines (plate benders)

• Strong analytical problem-solving skills paired with excellent customer service and communication

• Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics and communicate complex technical issues in layman’s terms

• Strong computer skills

• Proficient use of hand and power tools; electronic test/calibration equipment

• Ability to travel frequently; valid passport and driver’s license 

Desired Experience and Traits:

• Working experience as a Robotics Engineer in an industrial setting; ideally with metal press brakes or similar equipment
